Is This You?
A Rotarian is someone who, through their efforts:
Digs wells from which they will never drink
Restores eyesight for those they will never see
Builds houses in which they will never live
Vaccinates children they will never meet
Plants trees they will never sit under
Educates children they will never know
Feeds hungry people, regardless of colour, race or politics
Knows real happiness.
Our Last Meeting
Katey Halliday, President Elect of Adelaide City Rotaract, gave us a really interesting talk about her experiences with RYPEN, RYLA and NYSF.
Katey also attended World Youth International’s PEP program and says that all of these experiences have helped her in her personal and professional life. She is grateful to our Club who sponsored her in some of these endeavours.
It won’t be long before Katey “ages out” and has to leave her Rotaract club. We hope she will consider becoming a member of our club when that time comes.
Others who joined us on the night were:
• Kirsti Kankkunen (Past President of Adelaide City Rotaract Club)
• Inayet (whom we sponsored to RYLA in 2016. He may speak to our club later in 2017)
• Oliver O’Dell and his father Bill (we recently sponsored Oliver to attend RYPEN in April 2017
• Angus Grezch and his father, Peter. (Angus is the latest recipient of the Keith Healey Award which is presented to a Blackfriars student)
We thank Katey for her presentation. It was good to have the other young people who have benefited from Rotary’s Youth programs join us on the night. You are welcome to come back anytime.
Other guests on the night were Melissa O’Kelley and Corina GS from the Prospect Library who came along to find out more about our club were guests of Doug and Lynne. We hope to have them as guest speakers in the near future.
We’re sorry to report that the photos taken on the night didn’t turn out well … so we decided not to publish them.
